2020 Photos from Tour: 1/7–1/12 (Preview)

    1. After 551 steps (but who's counting?) dancers from Shen Yun Touring Company reach the top of St. Peter’s Basilica’s dome.

    2. After climbing all those steps, the performers are rewarded with an amazing view.

    3. The group checks out the interior of St. Peter's Basilica. This is Renaissance architecture at its finest.

    6. Dancers present one of the best-preserved monuments in Rome: the temple to the gods—the Pantheon!

    7. Next up: A visit to an ancient theater, the Odeon of Pompeii.
    8. Performers find even more steps to climb.
    9. The group captures the moment together on their way out of the theater.
    10. Sunlit smiles on the stepping stones of a street in Pompeii, a large archaeological site near the Bay of Naples.
    11. Sophie Xie offers her fellow dancers (from left) Xindi Cai, Ceci Wang, and Jenni Song support while they balance on the city that was well preserved by the ash from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D.

    15. On a travel day in England, from Liverpool to Woking, Shen Yun International Company stops in Chester, a little town once voted by Americans Europe's fifth prettiest city.

    16. From left, projectionist Annie Li, Emcee Victoria Zhou, and dancer Madeline Lobjois stroll the streets of Chester, which have a history of 2,000 years.

    17. The town's iconic attraction, Eastgate clock, is the most photographed clock in England, after Big Ben.

    18. Meanwhile, dancers Kathy Wu and Angela Liu of Shen Yun New York Company take it upon themselves to welcome their fellow performers to the island of Itsukushima (宫岛), in Japan.
    19. The island is bustling with people arriving via a boat from the mainland.
    20. Performers strike a pose together on the walkway (no pedestrians were blocked in the making of this photo).

    21. Dancers Lee Rubacek (left) and Stanley Lin hold their legs as straight as stone fence posts.
    22. Stanley Lin gets great height jumping from a sidewalk—no trampoline required!

    24. Dancers gather around one of the many stone lanterns on the island.
    25. Typical ladies, Principal Dancers Melody Qin (left) and Michelle Lian head off to check out the shops.
    26. Along the way, they make some new friends. These free-roaming deer have no fear when it comes to tourists.
    27. Principal Dancers Angelia Wang (left) and Melody Qin sample the local mussels.
    28. Konnichiwa, Kyoto! The group arrives in the city for the first of two performance runs (returning again in February).
    29. Time allows for taking a look around. Would you be brave enough to cross?
